CHILD PROTECTION ENQUIRY: INTERVIEWING YOUR CHILD

If your child is old enough, it will be important for him or her to have a chance to speak. Social Services prefer to have your permission for your child to speak. If you refuse, then in some circumstances Social Services might get legal advice.

Sometimes, Social Services and the police will need to record the interview on video. An adult who the child trusts can go with them to the interview session (though the adult cannot sit with the child during the actual interview).
