E-safety (Advice for Professionals)

"Panic or no panic, the virtual world and the real world do contain risks, and children left to navigate a solo path through either, face many dangers."
Professor Tanya Byron - The Byron Review March 2009

While children and young people need support to keep themselves safe online, the risks associated with the use of technology are not restricted to just them. E-Safety issues can also affect adults, for example personal data being entered on random web sites, fraudulent email traps and cyberbullying.

Those adults using technology on a regular basis will be exposed to these examples of how e-safety plays a part in their life.

Cambridgeshire Education ICT Service recognise E-Safety as a safeguarding issue and not primarily ICT. We recognise that Cambridgeshire schools may be at various stages with E-Safety. To find out more, click here
