
E-safety Sub group
We have reconvened a joint E-safety group with Peterborough which is chaired by Sara Rogers
Purpose
- The E-safety group sits beneath and reports to both Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Safeguarding Children Boards. The work of the Boards is part of the wider context of Children’s Trust co-operation that aim to improve the overall well being of children in both the local areas.
- The overall purpose of the group is to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of what is done by both local authorities and board partners individually and collectively to safeguard and promote the welfare of children in the real and virtual world and advise them on ways to improve.
Definitions
The definitions used are the BECTA definition as follows" terms such as e safety, "online", communication technologies, and "digital technologies" refer to all fixed and mobile technologies that adults and children may encounter, now and in the future, which allow them access to content and communications that could raise issues or pose risks to their well-being and safety.
Terms of Reference
The group will develop an e safety strategy which will deliver the following objectives:
- To support agencies in the safer use of Information Communication Technology
- To develop procedures for dealing with e safety incidents which will also help to identify trends
- To promote awareness and understanding of e-safety issues
- To develop standards by which agencies can self audit
- To support children and young people's participation in developing information for parents, carers and others.
Structure
The chair will be a member of the Cambridgeshire LSCB and will report to the Cambs Business Meeting and the Peterborough Operational Chairs group.
The Chair may set up time limited task and finish groups as required to deliver its objectives.
The action plan will be reviewed at each E-safety group meeting
Membership
The E-safety group will have as core membership representatives from:
- Both LSCB's
- Both Local Authorities (Social Care and Learning)
- Education ICT
- Health
- Looked After Children Services (Cambs and P’boro)
- Police
- Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Foundation Trust
Other members will be co-opted as necessary and will include the voluntary and community sector, parents and carers and young people.
Members will take responsibility for attending meetings, fully contributing by bringing expertise to the task and informing their respective agencies of issues and developments.
Accountability
The E-safety group is accountable to both LSCB's
Frequency of meetings
The E-safety group will meet bi monthly.
The work of the E-safety group will be supported by the Cambs LSCB and PSCB Business Managers
