
Voluntary Sector Safeguarding Group
Vision
Voluntary and community organisations working together to represent the views and experience of voluntary and community sector (VCS) in safeguarding children, with the aim of shaping services and improving outcomes, because safeguarding is everyone’s business.
Purpose
To provide a platform for VCS Organisations to:
- come together to share their experience in safeguarding the children and young people they provide services to;
- capture the views and needs of the sector;
- identify representatives to convey these views and needs to the LSCB key strategic meetings with the aim of influencing the strategic level agenda;
- impact on the improvement of outcomes in safeguarding children and young people across Cambridgeshire.
Objectives
The Safeguarding Theme Group will work to:
- Embed VCS involvement in the organisational culture of the statutory organisations.
- Increase the use of VCS expertise to inform the design of strategies and services.
- Find ways to where necessary improve the understanding of statutory sector staff of the value of VCS services using evidence, and with reference to the National Indicators.
- Improve the communication of information about early years services, and the signposting of families between services – both VCS and statutory, including Children’s Centres.
- Improve access to equipment for those working with children with particular needs.
- Communicate concerns as appropriate regarding difficulties being experienced in working with OFSTED.
These Objectives will be review annually.
